About Sheldon's
Located in the heart of La Mesa Village, Sheldon’s Service Station is a neighborhood café built around great coffee, good food, and genuine community. We serve quality coffee, tea, breakfast, lunch, plus beer and wine, with a covered outdoor patio that makes it easy to slow down, meet up with friends, or simply enjoy the energy of La Mesa Boulevard.
Our name carries a piece of local history. George Sheldon founded one of La Mesa’s first full-service gas stations around 1920 and later served as mayor of La Mesa from 1926 to 1930. That history is part of what makes Sheldon’s special. We are proud to carry forward a name that has long been connected to La Mesa, while giving it new life as a place where people can gather, relax, and feel at home.
Today, Sheldon’s Service Station is committed to three simple things: coffee, café, and community. We believe a local café should be more than just somewhere to grab a drink or a quick bite. It should be a place where regulars are remembered, conversations happen naturally, and the atmosphere makes people want to stay a little longer. Whether you are stopping in for your morning coffee, meeting someone for lunch, or unwinding with a beer or glass of wine on the patio, we want Sheldon’s to feel like part of your routine and part of the neighborhood.
Our focus on coffee means serving drinks that people can count on, made with care and meant to be enjoyed in a welcoming space. Our café approach is about creating a relaxed, inviting environment with quality food and drinks that fit the pace of everyday life in La Mesa. And our commitment to community is what ties it all together. We want Sheldon’s to be a place that supports connection, brings people together, and adds something meaningful to the Village.
At its core, Sheldon’s Service Station is about honoring the spirit of La Mesa while creating something fresh for today, a local spot with history, heart, and a strong commitment to the people it serves.
